ADJUSTED 2018-2019 School Calendar

calendar

At its regular meeting on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, the Board of Education voted unanimously to adjust the 2018-2019 school calendar to build in 185 student days. By doing so, the calendar will provide the opportunity, provided by State law,  to set the Brookfield High School graduation date at the beginning of the year.

Despite having a calendar comprised of 185 student days, the actual student attendance will be our standard 182 days.  The additional three days, creating the 185 day calendar, are “built in” snow days.

Therefore, the calendar will reflect an end date of Wednesday, June 19, 2019.  If no weather related/emergency days are used, the end date will revert to Friday, June 14, 2019.  If more than 3 snow days are utilized, the following scenarios will ensue:

  • IF THERE IS A SCHOOL CLOSURE PRIOR TO WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 2018, THAT DAY WILL BECOME AN INSTRUCTIONAL DAY.  IT IS CURRENTLY SCHEDULED AS THE BEGINNING OF THANKSGIVING RECESS.
  • IF MORE THAN 5 DAYS ARE LOST DUE TO  EMERGENCY CLOSINGS PRIOR TO  FEBRUARY BREAK,  EXCESS DAYS (OVER 5) WILL BE DEDUCTED FROM THE END OF THE FEBRUARY PRESIDENT’S HOLIDAY.
  • ANY DAYS THAT NEED TO BE MADE UP AFTER JUNE 28TH WILL BE DEDUCTED FROM THE END OF APRIL RECESS.
