Update F - Assessements For Remote Learners Only

Dear Families of Current 100% Remote Learners,

I write with an update regarding student assessments. The schools have begun the beginning of the year district assessments with the “in-person” students.  As a district, we must collect critical assessment information from all students, including students whose parents have elected the temporary 100% remote option, to plan instruction that is intentional, individualized and differentiated.

In Addendum 1: Adapt, Advance, Achieve: Connecticut’s Plan to Learn and Grow Together (CT State Department of Education), which we provided when you made your original choice for your student’s learning model, it states, “Students participating in remote learning programming will be expected to access statewide assessments in-person, unless the assessments are available remotely. Other optional district assessments that are not mandated by federal or state laws/regulations are subject to local decision, depending upon whether those assessments are available online and can be administered remotely.”  Addendum 1: Adapt, Advance, Achieve - Connecticut's Plan to Learn and Grow Together.

Please know that you will be receiving correspondence from your child’s school to schedule an in-person visit to complete the required district assessments. Students and staff will remain socially distanced and must wear masks at all times. Any devices, desks, and/or additional materials will be cleaned between use by students.

Thank you for your cooperation and continued support.

Sincerely,

Dr. John W. Barile

Superintendent
