Update X- Mitigation Reminders- 2/4/2021

Update X - Mitigation Reminders February 4, 2021

Dear Families,

Thank you for all you have done to support our school community as we endeavor to create a productive year for our students in the context of a most unusual and challenging time!

The district has established an effective approach to mitigation strategies designed to keep our school environments healthy and safe. (The use of shields, single desks, physical distancing, wearing face masks, hand washing, frequent cleaning of high touch areas, isolated cohorts (when possible), and various models of instruction).

We are committed to keeping our schools open! The faculty, administration and staff cannot succeed without the community’s cooperation.

REMEMBERAdhere to Mitigating Strategies

In order to keep our schools open we must, as a community, adhere to the mitigating strategies.

  • Frequent Hand Washing
  • Mask Wearing
  • Social Distancing

This past fall, our ability to staff our schools was compromised mainly due to unknowingly COVID-19 Positive individuals coming in to close contact ( within 6’ for  15 minutes or more to the  individual). These close contact exposures necessitated the mandated and lengthy quarantines of faculty and staff members.  Resultantly, these faculty and staff were not available to work in person while they served the nearly two week long quarantines. Due to our diligence to adhering to mitigation strategies, we have not experienced in-school transmission. Furthermore, it is important to share that during this pandemic, securing substitute teachers and staff has been a challenge, regardless of our strenuous efforts to provide such coverage.  In order to continue to operate our schools in-person, we must adequately staff the buildings to provide proper supervision and continuity of instruction.

Finally, it is documented that the most vulnerable times for COVID-19 to spread, is during social gatherings in residences where social  distancing is not adhered to and masks are not worn.  With the upcoming Super Bowl this weekend, it is extremely important to continue to be mindful to celebrate and watch the game with those from your immediate household.  Enjoy the Super Bowl without it being a Super Spreader! We encourage all of you to remain vigilant in implementing effective mitigation strategies.  Keeping your family healthy will continue to provide all students in Brookfield with the opportunity for a positive in school learning experience.

Together, we must remain steadfast through the next few months, so we can emerge healthy and stronger for our efforts later this spring.

Sincerely,

Dr. John W. Barile
