Update T-Return to 100% In Person K-8/Hybrid 9-12

Update T - Return to 100% In Person School K – 8 & Hybrid 9 - 12

Dear Families, Faculty and Staff,

It is critically important that we return to in-person learning as soon as it is safely possible.

After extensively reviewing Brookfield’s health metrics and the priority to return our students to in-person learning with our medical advisor, Dr. Davis and our public health director, Dr. Sullivan, I am pleased to share that Kindergarten - Grade 8  are able to return to in-person learning, 100%, 5 days per week, beginning on Tuesday, January 19th. Brookfield High School will return to our in-person Hybrid Model, also beginning on January 19th.  The Remote learning option remains in effect for those parents who may not yet be ready to send their children back to school in January.

Our educator’s vigilance to ensure that we adhere to our mitigation strategies of additional cleaning, hand washing, mask wearing, and the assignment of single student desks position our students and staff well for this safe return to school.

This pandemic presents a very dynamic situation and, in the absence of widespread vaccines, the situation could change in a matter of a few days since the virus continues to spread in the community. Therefore, we will continue to monitor the health data trends over the next few weeks as we prepare for our return. Should a drastic change of the health trend data move in the wrong direction, we will be in touch with any adjustments to our plans.

After the winter break I will send a follow up notification regarding the shortening of the quarantine period from 14 to 10 days in alignment with CDC Guidelines and as recommended by the Brookfield Health Department.

Please accept my sincerest appreciation for all of your patience and flexibility as together we endure the challenges of navigating COVID-19 and instituting the required protocols.

Wishing you a Happy and Healthy Holiday Season.

Sincerely,

Dr. John W. Barile

Superintendent
